Glasgow Taxi parks up at International Confex
A People Make Glasgow branded taxi parked up at Olympia London for International Confex last week to mark the first year the city has hosted its own dedicated stand.
The taxi made the 800 mile round trip to attend the largest trade show in the UK and gifted passers-by with iconic Tunnocks tea cakes – famously enjoyed by visitors to Glasgow during last year’s Commonwealth Games.
Stephen Flynn, vice chair of Glasgow Taxis Ltd, said: “The People Make Glasgow taxis are probably the most talked about in our fleet, their distinctive colour is particularly striking, catching the eye day and night.
“We’re proud to work closely with key Glasgow stakeholders to help sell the successful People Make Glasgow branding and vision across the UK and beyond.
“There is no doubt this united approach helps Glasgow attract major conferences and events, during which Glasgow Taxis Ltd drivers play their own key role in transporting delegates and tourists safely around the city.”
Aileen Crawford, Head of Conventions at Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “As it’s our first year hosting our own stand at International Confex we wanted to celebrate in style. Our bright pink branding was globally recognised during 2014 through our hosting of the Commonwealth Games and a host of major events and conferences, so it was fitting that it was present at International Confex.”
Kathleen Warden, Director of Sales at the SECC, said: ““This has been a great show for us, and underlines the partnership approach we have between city and venue.
“Glasgow has once again been at the forefront of activity at International Confex and our pink taxi has turned heads for those buyers attending this show.”
